Responding to an email and not seeing your signature show up, even though you definitely added it?
Welcome to the bane of my existence – illogical default settings.
Why, oh, why, doesn’t Gmail put your signature below your email BY DEFAULT?!
Is it because of the three little dots that show and hide the email thread content? Is it because they assume that everyone who is emailing each other are all using the same platform (Gmail webmail)? Is it because they are stuck in 2004?
Thankfully, the fix to get your Gmail signature below your email is just one checkbox away.
- Click the Gear (upper right) >
- See all settings >
- Scroll to the Signature section, and check the box beside “Insert signature before quoted text in replies and remove the “–” line that precedes it.” >
- IMPORTANT: Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Save Changes.
VOILA! Easy Peasy. No Sweat. Piece of Cake.
Now, when you hit reply, your chosen email signature will show up directly below your email!
