Sometimes, I want you to be like Dara. But sometimes, I really really (really really) don’t.

Have you ever asked yourself what you would do differently in your business, if you knew then what you know now?

Well I’m here to confess the one mistake that I repeated over and over when I started my business over 15 years ago.

…It caused me major stress.

…It cut into my client time (and lost me money).

…It made a mess that was expensive and hard to untangle.

…It made me feel like I was a bad business owner.

And just when I finally untangled the hot financial mess that I had created, I slipped into over $30,000 in debt without even realizing it.

What was the mistake? Hint: “I’ll figure it out later”

If you’ve even dipped your toe into Get Productive with G Suite, then you know that I talk about Morning Guy vs Night Guy (it’s a Jerry Seinfeld bit – worth the 89 seconds of your time if you haven’t seen it):

The concept is that you can easily do your future self the favor of doing something NOW to avoid future frustration and/or extra time.

This adjustment can be as simple as filling up your car with gas at the end of the day (because we all know you’ll be rushing out the door in the morning and be upset with “night guy” for not making “morning guy’s” life easier).

Or washing off the cheesy pizza cutter while it’s still hot now in 10 seconds, before the cheese congeals and you have to scrub it for 2-3 minutes if you leave it for later.

Or creating a folder in your shared drive called “Emergency Docs” and filling it with copies of your most important documents like passport, birth certificates, marriage certificate, life insurance, car insurance, travel insurance and so on. (There’s a checklist of what goes in the Emergency folder inside GPG. But I digress.)

So here’s the deal… don’t make the same mistakes I did.

To Do Get My Financial Sh!t TogetherDon’t put off dealing with your biz finances like I did.

Or risk having someone do the work who doesn’t know what they’re doing… like I did. #hello30kinthehole
